The Valorant Champions event is an annual treat for fans of Riot Games’ flagship FPS game, giving players free VCT-themed loot and an exclusive new skin. This time around, the Phantom and Knife are getting two amazing cosmetics, and the game’s maps are also getting a Champions-style makeover.
If there’s one thing I’ve always regretted, it’s not buying the Champions Vandal during the Valorant Champions event in 2021. Since then, hordes of fans (including themselves) are waiting for the 2022 iteration of the VCT skin, saving their VP for now it’s on sale.
That moment has finally arrived. This year we’re getting a ghost and knife skin, along with a plethora of additional cosmetics to go with them. There’s the free pass to level up, and even the cards in the game are getting a fresh coat of black and gold paint.

Valorant Champions Ghost and Knife Skins
As with the 2021 iteration of the event, there’s a brand new pack of purchasable skins for those looking to celebrate in style. These cosmetics are exclusive to the event (50% of profits going to participating teams), so they will not return to the Valorant Night Market and will only be available for purchase between August 23 – September 21 at 2:00 p.m. PST / 5:00 p.m. EST / 10:00 p.m. BST / 11:00 p.m. CEST / 7:00 a.m. AEST.
The Phantom comes equipped with custom shot sound, model changes, and two additions to the champion aura (a feature that makes the gun glow when you frag). The new system sees the aura color change every five kills, with a maximum of 25.
An easter egg will also trigger on the knife when you kill 25 kills, so the two make the perfect duo. Both can be seen in the image above, alongside the other cosmetics you’ll get if you buy the full pack.
Valorant Champions Event Pass
For those not looking to splash the cash, there’s also a free pass to upgrade. It has seven different stages, which means there’s a whole host of new goodies to add to your inventory.
It also goes from August 23 – September 21 at 2:00 p.m. PST / 5:00 p.m. EST / 10:00 p.m. BST / 11:00 p.m. CEST / 7:00 a.m. AEST.
